1:00 PM: Meet at Commons Beach
Arrive, say hello, connect with fellow paddlers, and get your boards and gear situated. Take some time to get into costume, check your equipment, and get ready for an afternoon on the lake.
1:45 PM: Final Gear Check and Group Gathering
Make sure your PFD is on, your paddle and leash are ready, and everything is secure. We’ll gather everyone together and get organized for our group photo.
2:00 PM: Group Photo and Group Launch
Costumes on, boards ready! We’ll take a group photo on the beach and, conditions permitting, aim to launch together as one group.
2:15 PM to 3:45 PM: Group Paddle
We’ll paddle together along the shoreline toward Lakeview Park before making our way back to Commons Beach. Our goal is to enjoy a relaxed afternoon on the water, connect with fellow paddlers, and take in the fall scenery. The route and duration may change depending on weather, wind, lake conditions, and the group’s comfort level.
3:45 PM: Return to Commons Beach
We’ll aim to return to our starting point, pack up our gear, and wrap up the afternoon together. Timing is approximate and will depend on conditions on the lake.
Please arrive on time and come ready to get on the water. Our goal is to launch together around 2:00 PM, conditions permitting. Safety always comes first, and the itinerary may change if weather or water conditions require it.
WHAT TO BRING
• Your own paddleboard and paddle. BYOB means bring your own board.
• A properly fitted PFD (personal flotation device), which must be worn throughout the paddle.
• A SUP leash appropriate for the conditions.
• Warm layers suitable for changing fall weather.
• A Halloween costume that allows you to paddle and move safely.
• Water and any personal essentials you need for the outing.
Need a board? Check with Tahoe City Kayak about rental availability.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Paddle at your own risk.
This is an informal community gathering, not a guided or professionally supervised paddle. Participants are responsible for their own equipment, decisions, and safety.
Lake Tahoe’s water remains cold in October, and weather, wind, and lake conditions can change quickly. This paddle is intended for experienced paddlers who are comfortable assessing conditions and managing their own equipment.
• A PFD must be worn by every participant.
• A SUP leash is required for paddleboarders.
• Stay close to shore and within your abilities.
• No alcohol or intoxication while paddling.
• Costumes must not interfere with your vision, mobility, swimming ability, PFD, or ability to get back onto your board.
• Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
• Dress for the water temperature, not just the air temperature.
• Check weather, wind, and lake conditions before arriving.
If conditions are unsafe, the paddle will be canceled. The lake decides if we fly.
